Heading into the Future!

It’s almost 2023 and things are looking up. I hope all of you had a warm, safe, and happy holiday season. My family and I are so grateful for the extra time we get to spend together this time of year. We are well aware that not everyone is so lucky. We always try to keep those in need at the forefront of our minds and not take our good fortune for granted.

I’m planning on hitting the ground running in 2023. I am hoping to take some of the behind the scenes business aspect to the next level of efficiency and professionalism, so don’t be surprised if things are a little different, and hopefully better, when you get in touch with me. I’m always open for feedback so please let me know if things aren’t going smoothly for any reason. My goal is to be more clear and transparent in my communications and to offer each of you as much value in our interactions as possible. I’m very much looking forward to it.

Another goal for 2023 is to clarify my artistic vision. With any luck this will reduce the wait time and allow me to focus on producing even more excellent work. this may mean that I decline some projects that I don’t feel I can give 100% to, but whenever possible I will try and point you in a direction that will result in the best outcome for everyone.

Thanks to everyone who is interested in my work, both on and off of the skin. See you in 2023!

Bring on the Pumpkins

Happy fall Y’all! Summer was brief, but it was awfully nice. A little heat, a little sun, and plenty of activity. The expo in August was a ton of fun and I’m already looking forward to next year! My schedule is mostly full through the end of the year, but please don’t hesitate to get in touch with ongoing or new work as I am booking for next year. Who knows, I might even have something open this year that will work for you.

Some of you have noticed some changes around the studio. I’m still working on new artwork and even got the door wrapped with a fun GeoDragon design. I’m hoping to make big stickers out of those soon. The unisex tentacle tees are now available in most sizes at the studio if you want to pick one up in person. They are $25 and if you pay cash I’ll pay the tax for you. my continuing collaboration with Community Tattoo Collective is still going strong every month so keep checking in there to see which awesome charity organizations we are working with.

Stay warm, happy, and healthy as we close into this colorful and spicy part of the year!

Summer … finally!

It seems to have actually happened, at last! More sun than rain, people getting outside, and everyone feeling like they can finally relax and put the gloom behind them, at least for a bit.

My schedule has been very dynamic lately, lots of folks rescheduling to take advantage of the summer fun opportunities. Still getting a few Covid reschedules here and there too, so try and stay aware of that. I really appreciate when my clients give me plenty of notice for rescheduling when they can as it gives me more of a chance to fill the spot. If you have appointments over the summer don’t be surprised if I reach out to get you in early. It’s never a requirement, but I love to make someone’s day by lessening their wait time. Don’t be shy about booking new work either. You never know, I might have a stubborn opening in my schedule that could mean that you won’t have to wait! I still have a few holes to plug in my July and August schedule, but I’m also happy to fill in the rest of the year with your requests.

I have a new shirt design in the shop. It’s a lizard with a mandala (of course) and it’s my wife’s new favorite design. You should definitely check it out! I am also continuing to collaborate with Community Tattoo Collective every month so keep checking in there to see which awesome charity organizations we are working with.

Don’t forget that the Seattle Tattoo Expo is coming back live this year on August 19th-21st! I will be attending and hope to see a whole bunch of you there! I hope you are all set to enjoy however much summer we actually get this year. I’m looking forward to seeing as many of you as I can and soaking up the warmth when I’m not tattooing. Thanks again for all of the support I get and we will talk soon!

I’m Ready For Spring

I’m so grateful that the sun has started to come out on a regular basis again! Spring truly is my favorite part of the year. I’m also grateful that I continue to be busy. I appreciate all of the new and continuing projects that I have in the works. I was able to take this last week off and give the studio a much needed facelift. Paint, and a little redecorating for now. A new floor will hopefully happen before the end of the year. I even managed a couple of days out of town with my beautiful wife!

None of this would have been possible without the generous support of all of you, so thank you so much! I’ve put a few new prints up on the website and hope to start carrying a limited amount of new products in the studio as well as online. I’m also continuing to enjoy working with Community Tattoo Collective and donating to a different worthy charity every month. This month is the Prison Pet Partnership.

I’m always happy to hear from you if you have a new tattoo project you are interested in. I’m currently scheduling in June and beyond, so let me know for your summertime tattoos! Thanks again and I hope you are all enjoying this season as much as I am!

The end of 2021

We can collectively put a pin in another bizarre year. I don’t know about anyone else, but 2021 was an improvement over the previous year. It certainly wasn’t perfect, but I will take any improvement over the alternative decline. Since we can’t expect things to stay the same, no matter how monotonous the day to day can be, let’s plan on 2022 being an even better year!

I feel so fortunate to have stayed so busy in the middle of a global pandemic. Thanks to everyone who has risen above their own trials and gotten tattooed as a way of fighting back the gloomy reality that we are all dealing with every day. So far the coming year looks to be as busy as ever but I’m always happy to discuss new tattoo projects so feel free to give me a call, text, email, or message! Due to the continuing rise of equipment costs and supply chain issues, Any new work scheduled in 2022 will be billed at $200 an hour. If you have already scheduled an appointment or have ongoing work, your costs will not change. My session minimum will remain the same at $300.

Please keep in mind that masks are still mandatory in the shop. I am fully vaccinated and boosted but Omicron seems to be a very challenging new variant so I’m still playing it safe. If you have an appointment but are feeling like there is any chance of you being sick, please let me know and we will reschedule you as soon as possible after you feel it is safe to come in. I will, of course, do the same.

I am continuing my collaboration with Community Tattoo Collective and am excited to find out who we will be donating to each month. I also plan on further expansion of my online store, so keep checking back for new products and artwork as the year progresses. I am also open to hear from all of you concerning what you would like to see on the website, store or even social media. What itches can I scratch for the folks who actually pay attention to my little corner of the world in 2022?

Winter is Coming

Fall is upon us. Sweaters are coming out and shorts are being put back in the closet. Hopefully your tattoos are still keeping you warm with the glow of personalized beauty. I have been kept very busy by some very wonderful tattoo projects and my calendar continues to be a fortunate challenge. For anyone wanting to get tattooed by me, thank you so much for your interest in my work. I appreciate it more than I can say. I also appreciate your patience. I feel so fortunate to be so busy, but it does keep me from being as flexible as I like.

Unlike some tattooists, I do not close my books. What I am doing is taking names and numbers and ask for time to catch up with my current work load. If this happens, please rest assured that I am looking forward to talking with you about your tattoo project and getting you on the calendar. I am currently booked through the rest of 2021 so if you are waiting to hear from me, I plan on reaching in the beginning of November to fill my Jan/Feb schedule.

I have also been enjoying collaborating with Community Tattoo Collective. Every month they announce a local charity that they are working with to raise money. June was very successful in raising $5700 for Lambert House Seattle. In July we collected $4500 for Urban Native Education Alliance. August was great, we raised $3210 for Hand in Hand. And September finds us working with Mutual Aid Disaster Relief. If you are interested in donating along with us, please follow CTC on Facebook or Instagram and find out which charities we work with each month. If you prefer to donate directly through me I am always happy to do that too.

I’m slowly continuing to add to my online merchandise as well. I’m currently working to bring hats to the store! Keep an eye out for them! Thanks again for everyone’s support!

Summer Time Fun!

Finally, the dark months are behind us and the rain is starting to dry up. This time of year always reminds me why I love living in the PNW so much. A lot of the strange things we have had to do in the last year plus are behind us as well. Things have not gone totally back to normal, and I don’t know if they will, or should. A new normal is something I personally can embrace though. Having been vaccinated I feel confident in loosening some of the restrictions that have applied to my work for the last while. I am now seeing groups and allowing guests, as well as doing in person consultations when desired. I do have a wait list that is several months long, but I am trying to find ways to be more flexible with my scheduling. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in starting any new projects.

June is also Pride month! I have released a new version of my shop shirt to celebrate! All proceeds from the sale of these shirts will be donated to Lambert House through the Community Tattoo Collective Seattle.

“Lamber house is an international leader in LGBTQ youth community building - The primary prevention strategy for the constellation of risks that disproportionately affect all LGBTQ youth. Lambert House provides LGBTQ youth with daily opportunities to make friends with other youth like themselves and with supportive adults. It is this connection with peers and adults that immediately make life better for LGBTQ youth. Lambert House is where life gets better.”

This month is the first time that I will be involved with Community Tattoo Collective Seattle and I am excited to work with them often in the future. They organize a rotating group of local tattoo artists who come together to help better our PNW community. They feature a different organization each month. If you are interested in finding out more follow them on Instagram or ask me and we can learn more together.

Onward and Upward!

There definitely seems to be a light at the end of this Pandemic tunnel, which is a huge relief. Unfortunately we are not back to normal yet. All of my safety precautions are still in place including: my more rigorous cleaning schedule, Only seeing one person per day, and not doing in person consultations. I’m feeling so fortunate to be busy and I love talking with people about new projects. My tattoo wait time is still a few months long but after the last year, that doesn’t seem like such a long time.

I’m also still hard at work developing new products for the online store so keep checking back or follow me on social media to find out about new merchandise.

However you are coping with the world’s odd rhythms these days, I hope you are all staying safe, healthy, and happy. Keep thinking of new awesome tattoo ideas and I will keep working to make them a reality.

Please check out my Covid-19 policy on my FAQ page.

Things are looking up.

The world is still a very strange place, but I am so happy with the progress we are making as a nation and a civilization. I am still working under the safety regulations provided by the state. I actually exceed them in a few areas with the intent of keeping myself, my family, and my clients safe. If you are curious, please check out my Covid-19 policy on my FAQ page.

I’m also very pleased to announce that I have released a few new products in the store! Shop hoodies, long sleeved shop shirts, and a new t-shirt design. I hope to continue to add things in the coming months.

 The holidays are upon us

11/23/2020

This year has definitely been a strange one. Most of the normal events that help us mark the passage of time have been stripped away for the sake of public health. While I agree and support this communal need for awareness and safety, I recognize that it has been difficult for many. The holidays present some specific challenges in that we have to weigh the desire to come together with the risk that it entails. Having aging loved ones adds an additional burden as we don’t know how many opportunities we will have to see them. We should keep in mind though, that they are the most vulnerable to this disease and that by getting together we are increasing the likelihood that they will not be around for the next opportunity.

I fully believe that family is more important than anything, including getting tattooed. For the safety of my family please be honest about this when coming in for your tattoo. Even if you disagree about Covid-19 or feel that the risks you have taken are minimal. Even if you feel that it is too inconvenient to have to wait longer to get your tattoo, please let me know if you if you have gathered with people outside of your normal routine. I am staying home and safe with only the family I live with in order to keep my clients safe. I have to insist on the same from you.

If you have attended a party or eaten a holiday meal in someone's home with people, even family members, who do not live with you within 14 days prior to your appointment please contact me to reschedule your appointment. If It becomes apparent that you have been less than honest with me about this, our relationship will be ended. All tattooing will cease, even mid tattoo, and you will be asked to leave. There will be no refunds. I would hate for this to happen, and I don’t think it will, but I do take this risk to my health, the health of my family, and the health of my customers very seriously.

Even having to say that is a strange thing. But it seems better to say it up front than surprise anyone. Thanks to everyone who is doing their part to keep things safe for all of us. And for those who aren’t… I hope you are still around after all of this clears up. I will be happy to tattoo you then.

 Books closed… for now

9/4/2020

Wow! It’s been three months since I’ve gotten back to work. I expected to take a few months to catch up after being closed for three months. What I didn't expect was the tremendous demand for tattoos during these unsettling times. I’m honored to be asked to help people during their struggles and it makes me proud to do what I do knowing that so many people enjoy it. I am continuing to practice safe procedures during this time . While that has slowed me down somewhat, I think it is ultimately a good thing. I now have the time to really collaborate with my clients on their artwork before getting straight to the tattoo. I think this has resulted in better tattoos and more positive experiences. It really is nice to find these silver linings in our modern day challenges. For now, I have reached my capacity for new work and will delay committing to new projects. I will of course be opening back up to that when I have caught up a little, probably around the holidays. I am happy to put people on a contact list if anyone is interested in hearing from me when I do open my books back up. I’m also happy to sell gift certificates through my online store if you have money earmarked for your tattoo project that you don’t want to lose track of. I hope that the rest of the year finds you and your loved ones happy, healthy, and safe.

Tattoo Garden is open and tattooing again!

6/5/2020

Hello again from phase 2 of the GRAND REOPENING! Or WA Safe Start for those who are paying attention. I am now back to business… with a few new adjustments. I will be working by appointment only for the foreseeable future. My first order of business will be to reschedule the folks whose appointments had to be cancelled due to the closure. After that I will be attending to scheduling all the generous folks who gave me deposits during the closure. That money really helped out. In fact, it is the main reason I still have a shop to come back to. Once I have gotten all of those angels taken care of, I will be opening up to new work. I am happy to start talking and planning for your next tattoo, I just may not be able to schedule you quite as quickly as I would like. A big thank you also goes out to the many wonderful patrons who purchased a gift certificate during the closure. I hope to see those coming back soon too! I will still be selling gift certificates on my website under the store tab. Speaking of the store, I have many new products available. Tee-shirts, stickers, prints, and more so please check that out. I’m looking to continue to expand my online options too so let me know if there is anything that you might like to see.

In a more serious tone, this country is going through some monumental struggles right now. It’s a little hard to know what to think or where to start. For my family, we have decided that sharing our good fortune means donating money to a cause that we believe in. I will be donating 10% of my profits to the NAACP until the end of June. If anyone is interested in joining me I will be happy to discuss how. No matter your background, beliefs, politics, or heritage, please be safe, respectful, and strong through these troubling times. I truly believe that if we can all learn to work together towards a common goal, we as Americans can achieve anything. Black Lives Matter. Know that you are loved.

The New Website is Up!

These have been tense and strange times of late. We have all been anxiously aware of how connected we are and how disconnected we could allow ourselves to become. This quiet time of enforced contemplation has had many silver linings for me. It has reminded me that I am fortunate to live with my favorite people in the world. My family has been truly amazing during this trying episode. I’ve also been amazed by the generosity shown to me by my present and future clients. I have been able to keep my head up, even though my wife and I have both been forced to close our businesses during the quarantine, due to this outpouring of well wishes and financial support from the beautiful people whom I am lucky enough to tattoo. Finally, I have had time to catch up on a few projects that I have been unable to get to with my normally busy schedule. One of these was the rebuild of this website. Hopefully this will lead to a more dynamic and enjoyable online experience for all of us. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make this website more useful for you. Thanks very much!
